Authors: Blend Ibrahim, Ojonugwa Usman, Godwin Olasehinde-Williams, Ali Görener
Abstract: Social media platforms (SMPs) enable municipalities and public organizations to communicate effectively, raise awareness on sustainability, share municipal service information and engage with the community. This study aims to examine how online engagement with SMPs of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality enhances attitude, information value and environmental concern. In addition, the study develops a model to examine how online engagement contributes to environmental citizenship behavior (ECB). This study uses survey data from 316 citizens of Istanbul and employs structural equation modeling techniques using AMOS and SPSS software packages. Empirical results reveal that online engagement has a positive and significant relationship with attitude, information value and environmental concern. The study further shows that online engagement is positively related to ECB. Moreover, the findings suggest that attitude, information value and environmental concern positively and significantly impact ECB. This study provides insights into the body of knowledge in the field by examining the underlying mechanisms of how online engagement promotes ECB in a sustainable environment.

Authors: Muhammad Safdar, Nadeem Siddique, Shafiq Ur Rehman, Soban Qadir Khan, Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Khalid Mahmood
Abstract: This study intends to identify and analyze evidence regarding the relationship between impact factor and CiteScore. The reviews also evaluate the reviewed studies’ quality. The study aims to identify the countries publishing on the topic. The researchers searched eight sources, including WoS and Scopus, to retrieve the literature in the area. The reviewed studies covered different subjects, including medicine, computer science and library sciences. The authors used preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines to screen and select the titles eligible for this review. The investigators identified 13 studies that met the eligibility criteria. The researchers consulted the Boynton and Greenhalgh (2004) checklist for the reviewed literature’s quality assessment. The correlation coefficient values identified in the reviewed studies confirmed a significant relationship between CiteScore and impact factor. The researchers identified heterogeneity in the data. Hence, the random-effect method of the meta-analysis was applied. The values of the pooled correlation coefficient also indicated a positive correlation between the two indicators. The review identified that most (nine) of the reviewed studies’ quality scores ranged between 10 and 13. The review sheds light on the countries’ research production in the area. The review contributed to the literature (theoretical implication). The study’s results will be helpful for databases (WoS and Scopus), publishers and research community in understanding the relationship between JIF and CiteScore (practical implications). This is the first review and meta-analysis that systematically collected and reviewed the literature that investigated the relationship between CiteScore and impact factor.

  • Employee happiness in the tourism industry: a systematic review, synthesis
           and future research agenda

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

      Authors: Divyansh Sharma, Neeraj Dhiman
Abstract: This study aims to provide a thorough examination of the current state of employee happiness, identifying key areas for improvement and informing strategies for future initiatives. This study used a systematic literature review (SLR) to examine research on employee happiness in the tourism sector. This study was performed using scientific procedures and rationales for systematic literature reviews protocol (SPAR4SLR) methodology. Initial screening of articles (n = 34) was done using Google Scholar and further process was categorized into the following heads: searching for pertinent articles in tourism journals (n = 69); assessing the quality of the articles; performing data extraction from the articles (n = 40); and conducting themes analysis. Although employee happiness research has made significant strides, there remains a gap in understanding its dynamics in developing countries, where additional investigation is needed to uncover context-specific insights by proposing three themes: integrated workplace stewardship, human resource management (HRM) practices for health and mind, and HRM, empowering excellence through support. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the concept of employee happiness in a tourism context has not been studied through SLR. Moreover, this study has proposed novel implications and future scope based on themes selected from the study.

  • Analyzing big data capabilities, absorptive capacity and competitive
           performance in Jordanian commercial banks

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Saad G. Yaseen, Dima Mousa Dajani, Rami Ahmad Issa
Abstract: This study aims to examine how absorptive capacity (AC) mediates the relationship between big data capabilities (BDCs) and competitive performance (CP). It also tests how BDCs affect AC and CP in the case of Jordanian commercial banks. Drawing on a conceptual model and cross-sectional research design, self-administered questionnaires were used to collect quantitative research data from 360 managers in the Jordanian banking sector. Path analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. This empirical study provides evidence that AC substantially mediates the relationship between BDCs and CP and that potential absorptive capacity (PAC) significantly impacts realized AC. This study offers insights into BDCs. It adds value to how BDCs foster AC and enhance CP. The cross-sectional research design affects the generalization of the findings. The findings guide bank managers in managing BDCs and offer policymakers perspectives on enhancing CP. BDCs and AC in Jordanian banks can improve financial inclusion by tailoring services to target customers and enhancing customer service through data analysis. Additionally, these capabilities contribute to the economic growth and stability of the country by optimizing risk assessment, creating new jobs and developing specialized skills within the workforce. This study developed an empirical model to examine the relationship between BDCs, AC and CP. It offers a novel addition to the big data literature on the crucial interplay between BDCs, PAC, realized absorptive capacity and CP.

  • Restorative economy mainstreaming in the Global South: the frame of
           restorative economy in Indonesian media

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Justito Adiprasetio, Detta Rahmawan, Kunto Adi Wibowo, Dzikrifa Ningtyas Aliifa, Rudi Hartanto
Abstract: This study aims to investigate the challenges of mainstreaming restorative economic issues through Indonesian media practice, focusing on the framing contestation within this discourse – an underexplored topic in the context of the Global South. Using holistic framing analysis, the research incorporates semi-structured interviews with four senior journalists and environmental editors from leading Indonesian economic media and a focus group discussion with three executives from environmental-focused civil society organizations (CSOs). The findings reveal a dominant use of episodic framing, with most media coverage presenting events in isolation from their broader socio-economic contexts. This results in superficial portrayals of restorative economic issues. Media narratives tend to emphasize macro-level themes such as globalization and economic growth while overlooking grassroots innovations and local restorative practices. This imbalance reflects a broader pattern in which media and government narratives align more closely with global economic agendas than with efforts to cultivate meaningful, community-based alternatives. The coverage is often saturated with technical jargon and lacks cohesive storytelling. Furthermore, weak collaboration and limited communication between environmental activists, CSOs and media editorial teams hinder journalists’ ability to grasp and convey the substance and practical dimensions of restorative economics. The media dynamics perpetuate a fragmented discourse that fails to promote a comprehensive understanding of restorative economic efforts in Indonesia. This study provides a comprehensive examination of how the media frames the mainstreaming of the restorative economy in Indonesia. It examines the depth of media coverage, the prioritization of specific sectors and the visibility of key actors in shaping the discourse around restorative economics. By doing so, the study seeks to uncover both the scope and the nuances of public engagement with restorative economic initiatives as reflected in media narratives.

Authors: Marc Lucas Zaragoza, Antonia Moreno Cano, Lizandro Angulo Rincón
Abstract: This study critically examines how European public service media (EPSM) are leveraging innovation to address contemporary market challenges, focusing on the role of media laboratories as engines for digital transformation and transmedia narrative development. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that EPSMs systematically implement medialabs to foster innovation and differentiate themselves from commercial competitors. Using narrative textual analysis within an exploratory and comparative framework, this research examines the media labs of EPSM in the five most populated European Union (EU) countries, all European Broadcasting Union (EBU) members. The sample is based on a comprehensive review of digital platforms and social networks managed by these organizations. In addition, the study presents a case study of the RTVE Audiovisual Innovation Lab, drawing on interviews with key members of the management and digital content teams. The results indicate that European public broadcasters are increasingly adopting media labs as catalysts for digital innovation and participatory content creation. The most prevalent outputs include Web series, entertainment programs, music shows, podcasts and documentaries, designed to enhance user experience and promote engagement. These initiatives modernize broadcasting models and pioneer transmedia storytelling strategies in public service media. The sample is limited to five EBU member countries but provides a representative overview of prevailing trends in digital transformation and innovation. Future research should broaden the scope and include longitudinal data to further validate these findings. This research offers new insights into how EPSM use medialabs to innovate, strengthen transmedia narratives and adapt to evolving audience behaviors in the digital era.

  • How do prospective MBA graduate employees select their careers in the
digitally VUCA world' Developing a fuzzy AHP-based index

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Rama Shankar Yadav, Sanket Sunand Dash, Praveen Ranjan Srivastava, Dheeraj Sharma, Prajwal Eachempati
Abstract: A review of the literature suggests that there is a dearth of studies studying factors impacting career choices in the digital world. The limited knowledge related to the factors impacting career choices led to difficulty in attracting and retaining talent on the one hand and indecisiveness among potential employees on the other. To date, no index has tried to identify, synthesize and give relative weightage to the criteria impacting the career choices of a potential employee. This study aims to fill the above gap by creating a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP)-based index of the relevant criteria that MBA students (potential employees) weigh while making career choices. Basis literature review, a conceptual framework of factors impacting career choices was created, and specific parameters were identified. Moreover, focus group discussions and interviews were conducted to refine and modify the identified factors. Respondent preferences were collected, and fuzzy AHP was used to assign relative weights to the factors impacting career choices. The results suggest that potential employees (male) rate job security, national organization and compensation as the top three important factors determining their career choices. Whereas potential employees (female) rated national organization, growth rate of the industry and designation as the top three parameters impacting their career choices. The high emphasis on job security could be due to the great layoffs that have occurred in recent times due to the absorption of artificial intelligence and other digitization processes at the workplace. Furthermore, it was interesting to note that the ranking of job factors differed significantly across genders. This relative weightage of the index can guide employers, students and business school administrators in addressing these criteria more meticulously. Furthermore, organizations may use this knowledge and index to align their employer branding strategies to attract students during campus recruitment, thus strengthening talent management practices.

  • A PESTEL analysis of generative AI in the digital economy

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Deo Shao, Fredrick Ishengoma, Nyankomo Marwa
Abstract: The ability of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) to shift the competitive dynamics of the digital economy has rightly received a fair amount of digital ink. Yet, while scholars are critically examining the impact of GAI on competition, little attention is given to its implications of GAI on global economic development. This study aims to explore whether the surge in GAI is correlated with more economic growth and to what extent this is due to innovations that foster a competitive digital economy. The study applies the political, economic, sociocultural, technological, environmental and legal (PESTEL) analysis to understand the multifaceted impact of GAI on the digital economy. The PESTEL analytical framework gathers information on political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal aspects to enhance the comprehensiveness of the investigation. Data were gathered from academic literature, industry reports and expert interviews to provide a robust analysis of GAI’s multifaceted effects. The results of this study highlight that GAI can provide creativity and new types of business models, but at the same time, it can create strong ethical and cybersecurity challenges. The results of the PESTEL analysis underline the importance and increased complexity of the interactions between GAI and the different areas of the digital economy. The results emphasize the urgent need for policies and industry strategies to be implemented to maximize the potential of GAI while managing its downsides. The research is limited by its focus on the PESTEL framework, which may not capture all dimensions of impact of GAI. Future research should focus on broader aspects to assess the long-term effects of GAI on economic development and digital transformation. The study offers recommendations for exploiting the potential of GAI in the digital economy. These include developing robust cybersecurity measures, creating ethical guidelines for AI use and fostering collaborative efforts between policymakers, industry leaders and academic researchers. The contribution of this study lies in mapping GAI to the drivers of global economic development via a PESTEL analysis, stressing the necessity for a balanced view and an approach in harnessing the power of GAI, while also negating its risks.

Authors: Muhammad Zahid Raza, Muhammad Rafiq, Saira Hanif Soroya
Abstract: This study aims to discover the perceived awareness, benefits and suitable strategies of the Pakistani editors of Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized scholarly journals regarding open-access (OA) journal publishing in Pakistan. A structured questionnaire-based survey method of quantitative research approach was adopted to achieve the study’s objectives by collecting data from the editors of 329 HEC-recognized journals in Pakistan. The awareness level of the respondents of the Pakistani journals is low regarding the OA concepts, resources and initiatives. The respondents of OA journals have better awareness levels than the respondents of non-OA journals. All the respondents of journals are convinced and have the view that OA journals have wider benefits for the academic community, and they need to flourish. A majority of the respondents are of the view that HEC should sponsor financial resources and technical training for OA journal publishing. The respondents of OA journals are more in favor of supporting OA journal publishing than the respondents of non-OA journals. This study covered the lists of HEC-recognized journals of 2019. More studies may be conducted based on updated lists of HEC-recognized journals by using different research paradigms such as qualitative or pragmatic research approaches. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first comprehensive study on this phenomenon and is an effort to fill this gap and invigorate the scholarly literature. It may attract the attention of the policymakers, funding bodies, parent institutions of the journals and the HEC to cope with the low awareness level of the Pakistani editors regarding the OA concepts, resources and initiatives; and suitable strategies required to uplift the OA journal publishing paradigm in Pakistan.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Saurabh Gupta, Ritesh Kumar, Rishabh Shrivastava, Naresh Prajapati, Rajan Balasubramani, Deepak Kumar Chauhan
Abstract: This study aims to identify the relationship between Citation Score (CS), Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), Mendeley Reader Count (MRC) and X mentions. Data on “Climate change law” from 2019 to 2023 were sourced from the Web of Science. Social media attention indicators were extracted using Webometric Analyst. Articles mentioned in all social media indicators were included. Regression analysis was used to investigate relationships between the variables. Data collected in the study were imported into MS Excel/ SPSS software in CSV format and visualized using the Data Wrapper and Google Chart platform and correlation analysis set at p < 0.05. This study found moderate positive correlations between CS and the independent variables, with MRC showing a strong positive correlation and significant impact on CS (p = 0.000834). A 1% increase in MRC led to a 0.018% increase in CS. AAS showed a negative but insignificant association (p = 0.283003), and X (formerly Twitter) showed a positive but insignificant impact on CS (p = 0.599853). It identified that librarians and information professionals should promote Mendeley use for greater academic visibility. The insignificance of AAS and X mention of predictive power indicates that social media metrics alone are insufficient for assessing academic impact. A linked approach using traditional and Altmetric measures is recommended. This study targets the emerging social problem using a dual metric method that reflects the societal impact, which may be used as an indicator for other research performance and replicated as needed. This study also comprehensively covers Sustainable Development Goals 13 (SDGs-13).

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

      Authors: Vikas Kumar, Vikrant Kaushal
Abstract: Engaging consumers with brands to generate multiple benefits has become critical for the firms. In this direction, this paper aims to study perceived brand authenticity’s role in engendering online brand community engagement. Brand commitment and positive word of mouth were tested as the outcomes of online brand community engagement. This paper also examines the moderation of psychological brand ownership. A theoretically robust model based on relevant literature on online brand community engagement is tested using data from 428 users of various firm-hosted brand communities. Perceived brand authenticity’s three dimensions, i.e. credibility, continuity and symbolism, emerged as predictors of online brand community engagement. Brand commitment and positive word of mouth were also established, stemming from online brand community engagement. Also, psychological brand ownership partially moderated the relationship between perceived brand authenticity and online brand community engagement. Future studies are suggested to test this framework’s relevance in other contexts to capture the essence of online brand community engagement. This study demonstrates perceived brand authenticity as a vital precursor to online brand community engagement. Second, the study offers brand commitment and positive word of mouth as valuable outcomes of online brand community engagement. Third, current work establishes psychological brand ownership as a moderator in the context of authentic brands.

      Authors: Shiwani Choudhary, Richa Joshi
Abstract: This study aims to explore the literature review of employer branding (EB) with respect to human resources (HR) constructs. To achieve this, the present research employs a structured and systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, applying the Scientific Procedures and Rationale for Systematic Literature Reviews (SPAR-4-SLR) technique, alongside the Theory-Context-Method (TCM) framework. This paper is focused on conducting a thorough examination of 89 papers sourced from Scopus and Web of Science and research explores the predominant theories, methods and contextual frameworks in the corpus. It also examines the most frequently utilized terminology concerning the antecedents, mediators, moderators and outcomes of HR constructs. The findings from our review emphasize the significance of TCM frameworks in facilitating a systematic integration and relationship of several new antecedents, mediators, moderators and outcomes regarding the employer branding in a comprehensive manner. To narrow down the collection of papers, this study used precise inclusion and exclusion criteria and only focused on TCM framework. Also, restriction to use of single domain with respect to employer branding. This paper helps in exploring the relationships of employer branding with several new antecedents and outcomes of HR constructs based on the TCM framework up to the year 2022. Also, the paper has studied various mediators and moderators that have played a significant role in shaping the relationship of employer branding with different HR constructs.

  • Balancing the organizational tightrope: how flexibility-oriented HRM and
           empowering leadership drive organizational ambidexterity

Authors: Md. Zahidul Islam, M. Muzamil Naqshbandi, Wardah Azimah Sumardi, Ibrahim Tabche, Nurul Amirah Ishak
Abstract: By drawing on dynamic capabilities theory, this study aims to propose an integrated framework that illuminates the role of flexibility-oriented human resource management (FHRM) in developing ambidextrous (explorative and exploitative) capabilities among employees, which reflects on the organization’s capability to become ambidextrous. Next to their presence, this study also considers the interaction between FHRM and empowering leadership in cultivating employee ambidexterity. A systematic literature review of research papers on ambidexterity was conducted to develop the conceptual framework. Based on the review findings, it is suggested that the resource and coordination subsystems of FHRM can enhance employees’ ambidextrous capabilities. These capabilities, in turn, contribute to the overall development of organizational ambidexterity. Moreover, it is postulated that empowering leadership may play a crucial role in strengthening the impact of FHRM on the development of employee ambidexterity capabilities. This can be achieved by facilitating exploitative and explorative behaviours and alleviating the tensions arising from conflicting demands, thus enabling employees to nurture their ambidextrous capabilities in their tasks effectively. This study addresses the lack of a deeper understanding of ambidexterity in the current literature by examining ambidexterity at both the individual and the organizational levels. In addition, this study takes an interdisciplinary approach by integrating concepts of HRM and leadership into a single framework, which could offer both scholars and practitioners.

Authors: Aida Khakimova, Oleg Zolotarev, Sanjay Kaushal
Abstract: This study aims to introduce a novel methodology for visually analyzing psychological tension in social networks, particularly in the context of disturbances related to coronavirus vaccination. It also aims to enhance the interpretation of online discourse dynamics by integrating mathematical, linguistic and visual-analytical methods. The study uses a comprehensive approach, including tweet array generation via the Vicinitas API, key term extraction, sentiment analysis and visualization tools such as Word-Cloud, VosViewer, Gephisto and Gephi. This methodology is tested on protests against coronavirus vaccination to evaluate its effectiveness in capturing the intricacies of digital discourse. The study identifies key themes, including psychological stress linked to vaccination, protest movements and sentiments regarding trust and belief. Hierarchical representations and visualizations reveal the nuances within digital discourse, demonstrating the methodology’s capacity to discern patterns in social media interactions. Practically, this methodology offers a robust tool for monitoring and interpreting online discourse, particularly in scenarios demanding immediate response, such as public health crises. Public health officials can use this method to detect early signs of misinformation or psychological distress, enabling timely interventions. Policymakers and analysts can leverage these insights to design communication strategies that build trust and mitigate public anxiety, aligning with societal needs for transparency and accountability. This research introduces a novel integration of computational tools and expert insights, specifically designed for real-time analysis of psychological tension in online discourse. Unlike previous methods that focus on text analysis or sentiment evaluation independently, this approach uniquely combines sentiment dynamics with predictive modeling, offering a comprehensive lens for understanding digital interactions during sensitive public health crises.

  • Empowering innovation: how organizational and social support foster
           creativity in Indonesian TV station

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Pei-Kuan Lin, Massoud Moslehpour, Jovi Sulistiawan
Abstract: Drawing from expectancy theory and conservation of resources (COR) theory, this study aims to investigate the effect of perceived organizational support (POS) and leader–member exchange (LMX) on employees’ innovative behavior process and examine the mediating role of expected performance outcomes (EPO) and moderating role of social supports (SOC). This study obtained data in two waves of surveys from 238 employees at Indonesia television stations and tested the proposed hypotheses using partial least squares. The findings reveal that POS and LMX significantly contribute to employees’ innovative behavior. In addition, the findings confirm that EPOs mediate the relationship between POS and LMX toward innovative work behavior (IWB). While SOC significantly moderates the relationship between idea generation (IG) and idea realization (IR), its effect size is relatively small. This suggests that SOC acts as a complementary rather than a primary enabler of innovation, reinforcing but not fundamentally driving the transition from IG to IR. Organizations should prioritize strengthening POS and LMX, as they have the strongest influence on employees’ innovative behaviors. While SOC remains beneficial, it should be integrated as a supplementary mechanism rather than the primary driver of innovation. Firms can optimize SOC’s enabling role by implementing peer collaboration initiatives, structured team-based innovation programs and leadership-driven project support to facilitate IR. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to distinguish the dimension of employees’ IWB and investigate the relationship between POSs, LMX and IWB by integrating expectancy theory and COR theory.

Authors: Chee Hua Chin, Ivy Yee-Xuan Kho, Chee Ling Chin
Abstract: This study aims to develop a conceptual framework based on technology acceptance model (TAM) to explore the usage intention of artificial intelligence (AI)-language platforms, using data from the context of Sarawak, Malaysia. Specifically, the study seeks to examine the relationship between TAM dimensions (perceived usefulness and ease of use) and quality dimensions (perceived intelligence, perceived accuracy and understandability) on the intention to use AI-language platforms, with the moderating role of anthropomorphism. The present study was a quantitative research endeavour grounded in the TAM that analysed usage intention of AI-language platforms. Conducted in Sarawak, within a Borneo region, a total of 240 rows of data were collected by questionnaire and underwent initial analysis using SPSS followed by a more in-depth two-stage partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM) analysis conducted with SmartPLS4. The findings of this study indicated that the suggested predictors (perceived usefulness, perceived accuracy and understandability) have a significant impact on usage intention of AI-language platforms. However, it is noteworthy that the moderating role of anthropomorphism was not evident in the relationship between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, leading to usage intention. Acknowledging the significance of technological and quality aspects, along with the influence of anthropomorphism on shaping users’ intentions towards AI-language platforms, the developed research framework is crucial for understanding the intention to use such platforms among young individuals in Sarawak. Therefore, this study aims to explore the usage intentions of AI-language platforms in an area that has received relatively limited research attention – specifically Sarawak, an island situated in Borneo, Malaysia.

Authors: Anudha Lepcha, Manendra Kumar Singh
Abstract: This study aims to review the scientific landscape of research support services (RSS) and research data management (RDM) provided by libraries, focusing on their application in research and learning contexts. This research seeks to examine the growth of literature in this field, identify the most influential authors, countries, affiliations and journals and assess collaboration across different geographical regions. In addition, the study will identify the most impactful paper based on the highest citation count and Altmetric Attention Score and analyse keywords to determine research trends in this subject area. This study uses a Scientometric and Altmetric approach to analyse a decade (2014–2023) of research outputs from Scopus. Data was retrieved with a keyword-based search strategy and visualized for science mapping (author, country, organization collaborations and keyword co-occurrence) using VOSviewer. Dimension.ai was used to determine Altmetric scores and Mendeley readership of influential works. This study analyses 1,085 RSS and RDM publications (2014–2023), showing global growth but lagging citations. Christina Ribeiro leads with 21 publications. Key sources include the Data Science Journal and the University of Pittsburgh. RDM has more focus than RSS, which needs further study. RSS and RDM simplify research tasks, widely used in social and computer sciences. Top works are mainly in library science. Effective RSS in libraries can enhance research and redefine their academic role. This study examines global scientific literature to assess libraries’ awareness of RSS and RDM services for research and learning. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no previous study has applied Scientometrics and Altmetrics to these aims and objectives before.

Authors: Umasis Tripathy, Mohit Verma, Arun Kumar Misra
Abstract: Notable conceptual and empirical investigations of environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects in influencing company behaviour, investor choices and regulatory frameworks have been studied. However, no attempt has been made to synthesise and comprehend these findings. Therefore, this study aims to monitor the key research trends and set agendas for future research. A modified PRISMA framework is the foundation for this systematic review. The Scopus database was thoroughly searched to gather the bibliographic material needed to map the critical and contributing research fields, essential authors, journals and nations. The research clusters are located using scientific mapping. Furthermore, this study conducted a thematic analysis of the literature to identify major themes, limitations and potential avenues for future investigation. The examination of the performance mapping reveals that the area is still evolving, with an annual growth of around 30%. The thematic evolution revealed that the area is evolving from social responsibility to ESG aspects. Furthermore, the investigation discovered emerging areas, nations, authors and their associations. Moreover, thematic analysis reveals three primary research areas and four sub-themes. Lastly, the authors identify and outline possible directions for further study. This study will assist academic scholars, policymakers and regulators by understanding the ins and outs of the business metrics and ESG arena. Considering the trend of investments in ESG elements, it will be important for scholars, researchers and policymakers to monitor the effects of ESG variables’ relationships with corporate metrics.

Abstract: This study aims to find out whether eSports as intrinsic motivation has a positive effect on innovative behavior and whether knowledge sharing plays a mediating role in this relationship. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research hypotheses were tested using partial least square-structural equation modeling with multi-group analysis using Smart-PLS 4. The sample was 208 respondents from the academic community affiliated with the universities in Indonesia and India. For India, there is a positive relationship between eSports-driven intrinsic motivation and innovative behavior. Knowledge sharing acted as a mediator. For Indonesia, however, the results indicate a more complex dynamic. Although intrinsic motivation in eSports leads to knowledge-sharing behaviors, the direct relationship between intrinsic motivation and innovative behavior was not significant. Knowledge sharing, therefore, plays a crucial role as a mediator. The study advances the literature by demonstrating how eSports as intrinsic motivation influences innovative behavior through knowledge sharing based on self-determination theory by focusing on academic communities in two different countries.

      Authors: Bakthavachalam Elango
Abstract: Citations are increasingly used as a measure of performance in research policies and evaluation systems. The purpose of this study is to examine the irregularities present in the citation numbers provided by the Web of Science (WoS). A total of 3,000 highly cited articles on COVID-19 were obtained from the WoS at two-day intervals, with four samples collected each month, resulting in a total of 72,000 records across 24 samples. This study excluded one sample due to incomplete information, leaving a total of 69,000 articles. The final dataset, after screening the data, includes 2,765 articles with citation information from all 23 samples. The citation counts from the Web of Science Core Collections were utilized for the analysis, and all statistical analyses were conducted using MS-Excel. A dot plot was generated to gain insight into the distribution of the data. All descriptive statistics, with the exception of the median and minimum citation numbers, displayed variations, indicating potential inconsistencies in citation counts. Notably, no discernible pattern emerged from these fluctuations. Nevertheless, the ANOVA test revealed no significant differences. It is important to highlight that there were considerable variations in citation numbers, especially at the higher end. Over a six-month period, a total of 1,191 articles, representing 43%, exhibited fluctuating citation numbers, ranging from 1 to 10,169. Furthermore, 70% of the articles with over 1,000 citations experienced multiple fluctuations in their citation numbers. Given the discrepancies seen in the citation counts provided by the WoS, this study stresses how important it is to be careful when using citation counts as performance indicators in research policy and evaluation frameworks. In conclusion, this study’s results are very important for researchers, policymakers and evaluators who use citation cunts as a measure of performance when making research policies and evaluative systems. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this study offers the first report on discrepancies in the number of citations for COVID-19-related articles in the WoS over a period of time. By drawing attention to the inconsistencies in the citation counts provided by the WoS, a widely used database for research evaluation, this research adds to the body of literature.

Authors: Mohammed Aboramadan, Wasim Alhabil, Khalid Abed Dahleez, Abrar Mohammed Mubarak Al Alawi
Abstract: Adopting and deploying electronic human resource management (e-HRM) technologies triggers many employee and organizational benefits at the operational and strategic levels. However, accumulating evidence shows that e-HRM deployment alone does not guarantee the intended outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of e-HRM on job satisfaction and task performance through the intervening mechanism of the digitalization climate. The authors collected data from 221 public office employees in Qatar. Results were obtained via an online questionnaire and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results suggest that e-HRM has a direct effect on job satisfaction, and the digitalization climate partially mediates this effect, while the impact of e-HRM on task performance is fully mediated by the digitalization climate. The study provides insights for Qatari managers and employees on the importance of using e-HRM at their workplace. Studies on e-HRM in the Middle Eastern context are underdeveloped. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature by being one of the few studies examining the effects of e-HRM on employee outcomes. In addition, the HRM literature has not investigated the digitalization climate.

Abstract: This research, grounded in the leader–member exchange (LMX) theory, aims to investigate the influencing mechanism by which inclusive leadership (IL) affects employees’ change-oriented organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). It specifically examines the role of LMX and trust in leadership as mediators between IL and change-oriented OCB, both individually and sequentially. A time-lagged (2 points) survey study was carried out to collect data from 494 employees and their immediate supervisors in terms of reciprocal assessment in Malaysia’s telecom sector. During the survey, the supervisors and subordinates were double-blinded. The measurement model was used to confirm the validity and reliability, and the structural model was used to test the research hypotheses. The findings demonstrated a significant positive relationship between IL and change-oriented OCB. This research confirms that IL directly influences change-oriented OCB and indirectly via LMX and trust in leadership mediating factors. The findings supported the sequential mediation of LMX and trust in leadership between IL and change-oriented OCB. This research expands the existing theory of LMX by validating the role of LMX and trust in leadership as a sequential mediator in the association between IL and change-oriented OCB.

Abstract: While green entrepreneurship has attracted growing attention, its connection to green innovation (GI) remains ambiguous. This study aims to examine the effect of green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO) on GI and investigates the moderating role of intellectual capital (IC) in this relationship within the context of large manufacturing firms in Yemen, a less-developed country. A survey-based approach was employed to collect data from 177 managers of large Yemeni manufacturing firms. Hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS with PROCESS Macro was employed to test the hypothesized links. The results revealed that GEO positively influences GI, particularly through its dimensions of green product innovation (GProdI) and green process innovation (GProcI), with a higher effect on GProcI. Importantly, IC significantly moderates these relationships. Specifically, high IC amplifies the GEO-GProdI link but stabilizes the GEO-GProcI link, suggesting IC’s dual role in fostering GI dimensions. This study is constrained by its focus on a single country and its reliance on self-reported cross-sectional data. Future research could enhance generalizability by adopting longitudinal designs and exploring various geographical and economic settings to confirm these findings. The research demonstrated that a company’s possession of IC is important to enhance the full potential of GEO to improve innovation performance. This finding is crucial for decision-makers facing the challenges of allocating resources optimally. By integrating GEO, IC and GI within the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) framework, this study advances the understanding of sustainability drivers in less-developed countries. It highlights IC as a critical resource for leveraging GEO to enhance GI, providing actionable insights for managers and policymakers aiming to foster GI.

Authors: Abdelrahman Saber Abdelrahman Ammar, Ahmed Shehata, Metwaly Eldakar
Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) tools ChatGPT-4o and Gemini in providing support in Arabic libraries, analyzing their ability to potentially answer diverse queries and exploring the feasibility of using such technologies. Descriptive analytical and content-analysis methods were adopted. A set of queries was directed to each tool individually, and their responses’ accuracy, comprehensiveness and presentation style were evaluated. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare the tools’ performance. Subject experts also evaluated the tools in their respective fields. The results showed that Gemini significantly outperformed ChatGPT-4o in most question categories, providing more accurate and comprehensive responses. Gemini showed strength in social sciences, humanities and educational sciences. However, both tools had limitations with questions about current events and those requiring detailed local knowledge. This study contributes empirical evidence on AI tools’ potential benefits and limitations in Arabic academic libraries. Information professionals should critically evaluate these technologies and consider the ethical implications of their use. Our results imply that Gemini can potentially enhance Arab researchers’ finding information, particularly in certain subject areas. Libraries should develop strategies for the responsible and effective implementation of AI tools. This study enriches the literature on AI in libraries by focusing on the Arabic context and providing insights from a multifaceted analysis of two prominent AI tools.

  • The implementation of data curation framework in the government: a
           systematic literature review

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Authors: Aulia Puspaning Galih, Ágnes Barátné Hajdu
Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the implementation and challenges of government-related data curation. Data was collected from the SCOPUS database. This study uses a systematic literature review using preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA). This study discovered that government agencies and researchers in the reviewed papers seldom develop and explain data curation plans proactively. Government agencies and researchers engage in data collaboration with both national and international agencies. They rectify any missing and erroneous data within their institutions and projects, ensuring its accuracy, and proceed to update, compare and validate the data. Health-care data assurance is the most stringent due to the confidentiality of patient data. Government agencies and researchers use analysed data to create visual representations. Specific organisations grant unrestricted access to open data, while others limit its availability. Data curation related to government in the reviewed articles faces challenges related to data standardisation, data quality, lack of resources, funding, skills and regulations. Since this study uses a systematic literature review as a method, it does not reflect the general practices of data curation in government agencies, which are not published and indexed in the SCOPUS database. Policymakers could use these findings to promote mandatory data protection policies and standardised guidelines for different data types. This would promote ethical and legal data management and public trust in government data and projects. Data curation training can improve government agency staffs and researchers’ skills and practices. While other studies focus on data curation in libraries, this study focuses on government-related data curation.

Authors: Aamir Hamid, Nusrat Ali, Naimat Ullah Shah, Kazim Syed
Abstract: This study endeavored to examine the bibliometric statistical analysis of published documents on academic, national, special and public libraries during 2001–2024. To accomplish the research objectives, a consolidated data consisting of 15,761 published literature retrieved from the indexing database ISI Web of Science. This study used the bibliometric analysis method that portrayed scientific panorama of countries, organizations, researchers and their role in the production of scholarly publications. The outcomes of bibliometric analysis revealed that the most preferred document type is research paper, which has been mostly published in the English language, and publications are steadily increasing in numbers. The work of 19,380 authors, depicts Jarmo Saarti as the most prolific contributor. The University of South Africa, South Africa, appears as the prominent organization out of 6,083, whereas the USA seems a highly yielding country among the global list of 138 countries. The findings reveal that out of 119 research areas, information science and library science, computer science, educational research, arts and humanities are the major published domains. After a comprehensive exploration, the study proves that total 20,351 author keywords have been used, whereas the most frequently used term is “academic libraries”. Following the recent global trend of citations, the obtained data also highlights the article category as most cited documents. Similarly, a published article “role of the academic library in promoting student engagement in learning” by Kuh, G.D. and Gonyea, R.M. occurs the most cited article. This study contributes to the current knowledge accumulation by its lack of year, country, region and language limits.

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the relationship between explicit knowledge sharing, characterized by organizational communication and technological support and perceived organizational performance in Egypt and the USA. Arabic- and English-language questionnaires were collected from 73 respondents in Egypt and from 67 respondents in the USA, respectively. An independent sample t-test analysis was conducted to compare the significance of the differences between the results of the Egyptian and the US samples. Regression analysis was used to test the contribution of organizational communication and technological support to the explanation of perceived organizational performance. The study’s findings indicated a significant positive relationship between organizational communication and organizational performance, as well as between technological support and organizational performance. The relationship between organizational communication and perceived organizational performance was more robust in the USA than in Egypt. This exploratory study investigates the respondents’ subjective perceived organizational performance. Organizational communication is a more significant condition for successful organizational performance in an individualist rather than a collectivist culture. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to use the Knowledge Management SECI Processes questionnaire model of the relationship between two dimensions of explicit knowledge sharing and perceived organizational performance in two different cultures, namely, Egypt and the USA.

Authors: Aasia Nusrat, Mahnoor Khan, Mubbsher Munawar Khan
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of Pakistani university students about the appropriate and relevant use of instructional humour in English classrooms and the role of such humour in English learning. The present study is qualitative and uses an interpretative research design. Twenty-five participants were selected from COMSATS University in Pakistan. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed through NVivo software (version 10) following the thematic analysis provided by Braun and Clarke (2006). The findings showed that instructional humour is a positive tool that makes a healthy classroom environment for students to participate in and reduces stress levels. Humour further helps in facilitating learning through the use of abbreviations, jokes, puns and comic stories. Furthermore, a majority of students perceive appropriate and relevant humour as the one which is related to their subject. By contrast, inappropriate and irrelevant humour, according to them, is that which is not relevant to the subject and targets students’ performance and appearance. This research has major significance for language teachers and students as they can come to know if humour can be applied in classroom and it has positive impact on learning.

      Authors: Ranjit Tiwari
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the nexus between intellectual capital and working capital management for the Indian extraction firms. This study uses cash conversion cycle and working capital requirement as a measure of working capital management, and value-added intellectual coefficient and modified value-added intellectual coefficient as a measure of intellectual capital to investigate the nexus. This study uses panel-corrected standard errors technique to test the aforementioned relationship using a sample of 67 extraction firms for the period 2010–2019. The results provide empirical confirmation of a negative relationship between intellectual capital and working capital measures in extraction firms in India. Further evaluation reveals that the capital-employed-coefficient is the only intellectual capital component driving the working capital measures of firms. Other factors influencing working capital are firm size, sales growth and leverage. This study makes a scholarly contribution by exploring the association between intellectual capital and working capital management, enriching the understanding of efficient working capital management in an emerging economy, India. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this study is one of the first to investigate the above relationship.

Abstract: Technological innovation and development have increasingly become crucial for the survival and growth of enterprises. Although the impact of innovation on performance and the relationship between technological development and performance have been investigated, the interrelationship between the three components has been neglected. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the moderating role of technological capability in product innovation and firm performance in the context of the Vietnamese economy. By using the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) regression and the xtpcse regression analysis method to address data errors in the time series model, this study uses panel data from 218 listed companies on the Vietnam stock market from 2015 to 2022. The findings suggest that companies innovating their products can enhance firm performance. However, companies with high technological capability may have a negative impact on firm performance and moderate the impact of product innovation on firm performance. Specifically, technological capabilities weaken the effect of product innovation on firm performance. Further analysis by dividing the sample into two groups based on high and low Return on Assets reveals that the moderating variable TECHCAP holds similar significance. This study was conducted using data from companies listed on the Vietnam stock market, which may not be fully representative of all firms in the Vietnamese economy. The second limitation comes from differences in recording and disclosing financial information related to product innovation costs specified in Vietnamese Accounting Standards compared to other countries. This leads to some difficulties in collecting data, reporting results and making objective comparisons with studies around the world. The findings of this research provide valuable insights for managers in formulating short-term and long-term business strategies. The results also serve as a reference for potential investors in making effective investment decisions. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the complex relationship between technological capability, product innovation and firm performance. It offers a novel understanding of how technological capabilities can moderate the benefits of product innovation, providing a nuanced perspective for both scholars and practitioners.

Authors: Eungi Kim, Madhu Atteraya, Shreejana Gnawali
Abstract: This study aims to examine the temporal characteristics of journals indexed in both the Korean Citation Index (KCI) and Scopus and evaluates the influence of journal age and coverage duration on indexing status and ranking in Scopus. TJournal data was sourced from the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) portal and KCI, focusing on journals coindexed in Scopus and KCI post-2004, resulting in a data set of 282 journals. Regression analysis was used to determine the contributions of journal age and duration of Scopus coverage to key performance metrics. Only 346 journals (1.2%) were coindexed in both databases. While journal age averaged 31.38 years, Scopus coverage averaged 9.40 years, indicating a substantial gap between establishment and indexing. Regression analysis shows that coverage duration, rather than journal age, is a stronger predictor of journal metrics. The duration of coverage varied significantly across quartiles, with higher quartiles showing longer coverage periods. This study focused on journals that maintained their indexed status through 2022, excluding delisted journals. The analysis assumes consistent journal development over time, without considering factors such as name changes or shifts in language of publication that could influence indexing status, duration of coverage and journal metrics. This study addresses a significant gap in the literature by examining the understudied relationship between journal age, coverage duration and performance metrics in KCI and Scopus. The findings reveal the pivotal role of coverage duration in journal rankings and indexing patterns.

Abstract: This study aims to address the link between green transformational leadership (GTL) and green management practices (GMPs) to achieve environmental stewardship (ES) in modern organizations while exploring the mediating role of digital transformation readiness (DTR) and moderating roles of eco-friendly technology adoption (ETA) and tacit knowledge (TK). An empirical study comprising of a sample data of 354 professionals was analysed on partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) 4.0 software. The hypotheses were developed using the perspectives from natural resource-based view theory and tested using a three-wave design. The major findings showed that GTL significantly impacted ES. The direct effect of GMP on ES is substantial. DTR serves as an important mediator in the link between GTL and GMP. The moderator variable ETA has a considerable impact on the link between GMP and ES. Furthermore, TK also acts as a substantial moderator in the link between GMP and ES. Encouraging ES may ultimately help organizations enhance corporate reputation and increase operational efficiency and cost savings. It would help enrich employee engagement and improve retention by fostering innovation. This study is a unique attempt to explore the complex interrelationships leading towards ES with a three-wave design including the interplay of the technology evolution in the organizational culture with DTR and ETA and knowledge management with TK.

      Authors: Anna Rostomyan, Farshad Badie
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is the unveiling of the emotional chunks apparent in global knowledge, as well as finding the interplay of emotions on emotional memory and background knowledge and viewing the problem from a linguo-cognitive perspective. To reveal the impact of positive/negative emotional memory of the interactants and its influence on communication processes, quantitative and qualitative research approach has been applied based on primary and secondary data. The analysis of the factual material has enabled the authors to claim that though negative emotions are stamped in the background memory more intensely than positive ones, positive emotions too have the potential of having a positive influence on the development of interpersonal relations. People do not always communicate with each other explicitly, and it often becomes a challenge to grasp the implicit meaning, the hidden thoughts and intentions of the speaker, which are not vividly expressed in speech. Only those pieces of information should be omitted in the process of communication, which the speaker is sure to be perceived by the listener(s) based on their mutually shared background knowledge. If both the speaker and the hearer are aware of the immense role of emotional background knowledge, then we stand a better chance of becoming better communicators, which will help us build better societies. This study is a comprehensive paper on the interplay of emotions and rationality being regarded as the overall basis of the functioning of higher cognitive processes forming the basis of emotional knowledge.

Abstract: This study aims to examine the forms of victim blaming in online news coverage of sexual harassment cases in higher education and analyze the extent to which the news patterns affect readers’ perceptions of victims. The research used a mixed method that combined qualitative and quantitative methods through a sequential exploratory design model. The text of the news coverage of sexual harassment cases in higher education published in online media was analyzed using the discourse analysis model. The survey was conducted among 300 university students in Indonesia, who were selected using the cluster sampling method. Many news reports in online media still use approaches that implicitly or explicitly indicate victim blaming in cases of sexual violence. There are three common types of victim blaming found in media reporting on sexual violence: seeking attention, passive behavior and being unalert. Findings show that although students, as readers, show a significant tendency to blame victims of sexual harassment after reading the news excerpts provided. This shows that reporting on sexual harassment, which is categorized as leading to victim blaming, has been proven to make readers blame the victim in the context of the sexual harassment case. This study can provide recommendations for fairer and more sensitive reporting toward victims, as well as raising awareness of the importance of supporting victims of sexual harassment. This study identifies forms of victim blaming in the news and analyzes how these patterns affect readers’ perceptions. Previous research has not studied this combination of analysis.

Authors: Arun Aggarwal, Ishani Sharma, Vinay Kukreja, Tanvi Verma, Rashmi Aggarwal
Abstract: The hiring process for information technology (IT) personnel, given its high stakes and intricacies, demands an objective, methodical and nuanced approach. The multifaceted nature of IT roles necessitates a comprehensive evaluation methodology to identify and prioritize pertinent skills and competencies. Therefore, this study aims to devise and implement a robust multi-criteria decision-making model integrating the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) for assessing and ranking the skills required for IT personnel. This study integrates expert opinions and insights from the literature to identify five key criteria and 21 sub-criteria essential for IT personnel selection. The fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to determine the relative importance of each criterion and sub-criterion. These weighted criteria were then utilized in the fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method to systematically rank five candidate alternatives based on their suitability for IT roles. Results identified “Objective of factors” to be the most significant criteria, whereas “Assessment Centre Score” as the most viable sub-criterion. Using the integrated model results of fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS candidate, A3 was the most fitted IT personnel, whereas Candidate A4 has emerged as the poor/ unsuitable fit. This research helps firms and policymakers use their limited resources efficiently. Furthermore, this study acts as a guideline for future researchers to empirically investigate the impact of listed skills on employee performance. This study is a pioneering effort in integrating fuzzy AHP and TOPSIS to address the challenges in IT personnel selection, catering to the intricate layers of human evaluative judgments. Its extended applicability and innovative approach makes it a valuable contribution to the existing body of knowledge, serving as a benchmark for future endeavors in related domains.

      Authors: Garima Singh, Ashwani Kumar
Abstract: This study aims to propose an extended model of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in the fashion industry. This model helps to identify key enablers for consumers, which will facilitate the adoption of a circular economy (CE). These enablers were identified through extensive literature review. An online survey was conducted with 362 respondents to test the model in the fashion industry. Convenience sampling was used and the survey was distributed via social media and email. Data analysis was performed using partial least squares and structural equation modeling was used to explore the relationships among the variables. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between consumers’ environmental knowledge and their attitudes toward adopting the CE model. In addition, the results demonstrate that providing consumers with a channel to return used clothing positively influences their attitude. The availability of such a channel significantly impacts consumer attitudes toward CE. This study contributes three novel elements to the TPB framework: availability, environmental knowledge and monetary benefits. This finding posits that consumers’ attitudes toward CE are significantly influenced by their environmental knowledge. This study also highlighted that attitude acts as a mediator in the relationship between environmental knowledge and intention, as well as between availability and intention.

Abstract: Knowledge sabotage is an emerging challenge for today’s managers because every second individual is found to be involved in such behaviors. Therefore, to understand the antecedents and consequences of knowledge sabotage, this study aims to investigate the trustful climate toward knowledge-sharing climate through knowledge sabotage. It further investigates the conditional role of destructive personality types in the relationship between trustful climate and knowledge sabotage. In this quantitative study, the data from 307 employees and their immediate supervisors working in the IT sector of Pakistan were collected on convenience basis. Furthermore, structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression techniques were applied to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that individuals’ perception of a trustful climate positively contributes to knowledge-sharing climate, and knowledge sabotage intervenes this relationship. Furthermore, the dark triad (psychopathy, narcissism and Machiavellianism) was noted to moderate the association between trustful climate and knowledge sabotage such that the dark triad strengthens this negative association. This study suggests using peer/colleagues’ rated scales to measure destructive personality. However, the findings suggest managers involve employees in the decision-making process and work on their skills to develop their trust in organizations and involve knowledge sharing. Conversely, managers are suggested to arrange training/workshops for individuals to understand and overcome their negative personality traits. Contributing to the novel literature on the most extreme form of counterproductive behavior in the field of knowledge management (i.e. knowledge sabotage), this study, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, is the first of its kind that empirically investigates the conditional role of destructive personalities toward knowledge sabotage in the presence of trustful climate.

Authors: Aarti Singh, Ramakrushna Padhy, Aditya Kumar Sahu, Atanu Chaudhuri
Abstract: This study aims to analyse the role of factors responsible for continued telemedicine usage in emerging economies. A sequential mixed-methods approach was used to analyse the data. This included in-depth interviews with telemedicine users to identify the factors influencing their continued telemedicine usage, followed by quantitative analysis to empirically validate the relationship postulated within the research model. The primary findings show that attitude, social influence and satisfaction directly impact users’ continued intention to use telemedicine services. These factors underscore the importance of both individual perceptions and external influences in shaping intention to continue to use telemedicine services. The results show that factors such as satisfaction, attitude and social influence impact the continued usage of telemedicine services in emerging economies. Specific policy initiatives and awareness programs can be implemented to promote long-term telemedicine usage. In addition, improving apps with user-friendly interfaces, local language options and voice commands, alongside enhanced security measures, would serve to build trust in, and improve accessibility to, telemedicine. The study’s findings can be used to improve health-care services in areas where facilities are inaccessible. This research explains the intention to continue telemedicine usage through a multi-theoretic perspective that combines technology continuance theory and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology.

Authors: Richa Joshi, Prerna Garg, Sachin Kumar, Neeraj Dhiman
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to understand the consumer’s continued intention of using food delivery apps (FDAs) by examining the value derived from benefits and challenges concerning their usage. Further, the study tested coupon proneness as a moderator to explain the relationship between perceived value and continued intention. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 240 FDA users, adapting a questionnaire from previous studies and measuring responses on a five-point Likert scale. The data was analyzed using structural equation modelling through AMOS to test the proposed framework. The findings of the study demonstrate that the benefits of using FDAs positively influence the perceived value, whereas the challenges of using FDAs negatively influence the perceived value of the customer while using the app. Also, coupon proneness significantly moderates the relationship between perceived value and continued intention to use the app. The present study modified the value-based adoption model by including three more benefits and one challenge concerning the usage of FDAs, and it also included coupon proneness as a moderator in the relationship between perceived value and continued intention to use the FDA.

Authors: Muhammad Fadhly Rizky Octavio, Doddy Setiawan
Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of public attention and media through the internet on corporate disclosures related to climate change. As public awareness of environmental issues and the urgency of addressing climate change increases, pressure is mounting on companies to be transparent about their actions and contributions to climate change mitigation. This study uses regression analysis to examine the relationship between public and media attention and corporate climate change disclosure. The panel data consists of information from 142 mining companies in the ASEAN region from 2017 to 2021. The research findings show that public and media attention through the internet positively and significantly influences companies’ disclosure regarding their climate change actions. Companies that receive higher levels of public and media scrutiny through the internet tend to disclose more information regarding their climate change mitigation initiatives, strategies and performance. This highlights the importance of public and media attention in driving corporate transparency and accountability in addressing this global challenge. This research emphasizes the need for companies to proactively engage the public and media on the internet in climate change disclosure strategies. By recognizing the influence of these external stakeholders, companies can design more effective communication and reporting approaches to build legitimacy, enhance their reputation and effectively demonstrate their commitment to contributing to climate change mitigation efforts. The novelty of this research lies in its study of the role of public attention and media through the internet as a driver of climate change disclosure by companies. Public attention is measured using data from Google Trends as the novelty of this research.

      Authors: Shelleka Gupta
Abstract: This study aims to undertake an examination of the determinants of psychological ownership (PO) in case of fitness apps and also attempt to understand the relationship between PO and consumer wellbeing (CWB). This relationship is also explored to understand the role of personal innovativeness (PI) and health consciousness (HC) as moderators. The present study uses the PO theory as the base model for the study. The data was collected through face to face survey method and a total of 315 valid responses were received in a period of five months. All the hypothesized relationships were tested by using partial least square structural equation modeling. This study confirms the significant relationship between PO and CWB. Control, investment of self and intimate knowledge of fitness apps are the significant factors that lead to the PO of these apps. The findings put forth HC as a significant and PI as an insignificant moderator. This study gives important inputs to app developers for increasing the PO toward these fitness apps. The PO has a proven record for delivering positive behavioral outcomes for marketers but can also act as igniter to boost CWB. The findings suggest that marketers should target users with high HC who can turn out to be role models and significantly influence people around them. This study is one of the few studies to examine the fitness apps by using the PO perspective. Further, this study demonstrates the role of PO in generating CWB and thus contributes to the knowledge of fitness app research by filling the gap in post-adoption studies of these apps.

Authors: Mohammad Muein Rasheed Shahin, Chin Wei Chong, Adedapo O. Ojo
Abstract: Studies have demonstrated the role of organizational culture on innovative performance. However, there is limited focus on the role of adhocracy culture in facilitating open innovation in organizations, especially in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are constrained by a lack of adequate resources, making them dependent on dynamic innovative culture such as adhocracy culture. This study used a quantitative methodology, using both exploratory and descriptive methods. Five hundred manufacturing SMEs in Jordan were chosen through systemic random sampling from a registered list of 2,310 manufacturing SMEs. A questionnaire was used as the study’s instrument on these SMEs. In sum, 335 responses (67%) were considered suitable for analysis. This paper supports the previous studies that suggest that the success of open innovation rests largely on creating an effective organizational culture (e.g., adhocracy culture). However, this paper indicates the positive influence of adhocracy culture on the features of open innovation (i.e., inbound innovation, outbound innovation). This study contributes to the literature by emphasizing the organizational elements that encourage open innovation in SMEs. It also provides empirical knowledge of a research model that offers SME stakeholders a cost-effective driver for open innovation activities by transforming intangible resources such as organizational culture, namely, adhocracy culture, to boost the competitiveness of their SMEs.

      Authors: Indranil Nandy, Ramakrushna Padhy
Abstract: Previous research on last mile delivery (LMD) has not attempted to identify thematic patterns within the literature to comprehend the prevailing research direction within this field. This study thus aims to identify significant latent topics in the technology-focused and consumer-centric LMD literature over a span of 45 years (1978–2023) and to propose topics for future research in this domain. This study adopted a text mining methodology in conjunction with bibliometric analysis to comprehensively review the literature. The findings of this study reveal the top emerging topics in the field of LMD and include the bibliometric results. This study is based on highly rated Australian Business Deans Council journals found in Scopus and Google Scholar. In addition to its methodological novelty, this study contributes to two interconnected strands of literature. First, it offers a fresh categorization of different concepts in the LMD literature, emphasizing the use of technology built upon prior efforts in the field. Second, it demonstrates the evolution of focus on different dimensions of consumer-centric LMD over time. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to use an unsupervised text mining method called topic modeling in the overall consumer-focused LMD literature. It thus overcomes the limitations of previous analytical methods for conducting literature reviews focused on other time periods.

Authors: Rahat Uddin Azad, Sabiha Tasmim, Md. Atikuzzaman
Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to assess the level of cybersecurity and social media privacy awareness among college students in Bangladesh and propose a scalable cybersecurity training framework to promote safe online practices. This study used a structured, printed questionnaire survey to collect data from the students of five renowned colleges from the southern part of Bangladesh. Stratified sampling technique was followed and a total of 353 data were collected. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS and Python programming languages. The findings uncovered that most of the students possessed limited knowledge regarding fundamental cybersecurity concepts, though they were using different social media platforms and posting personal information frequently. The study found a significant positive relationship between students’ sharing of personal information on social media and becoming a victim of cybersecurity attacks. Contrarily, becoming a victim of a cybersecurity attack was negatively correlated with their ability to respond in case of cyberattacks. However, most of the students were interested in acquiring knowledge of cybersecurity. Based on these findings, the study proposed a game-based cybersecurity training framework for students named “CyberSAFE”. Though several studies have proposed different cybersecurity frameworks in different contexts, this study, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, is the first attempt to explore college students’ cybersecurity knowledge and propose a game-based framework in a developing country setting.

      Authors: Deepa Bagdi, Nitu Nimbrain
Abstract: This study aims to conduct a rigorous bibliometric analysis of workplace deviant behavior (WDB) to identify prevailing trends, patterns, and themes in the field. The analysis seeks to outline the domain’s intellectual and social structure and provide a research roadmap. The study employed a systematic procedure to scrutinize research scenario. A search in the Scopus database produced 1,677 papers from reputable publications spanning 42 years (1976–2023). Science mapping techniques, including co-citation, co-authorship, and co-occurrence analysis, were used to obtain insights into the research landscape. By implementing these techniques, the authors comprehensively understood the interconnectedness and patterns within the research field. This study demonstrates an apparent surge in the overall number and impact of studies conducted on WDB, most of which are published in prestigious publications. Furthermore, the findings support Bradford’s law, defying Lotka’s law in this field. Through co-citation analysis, four clusters were identified in this area. Subsequently, co-occurrence was used to pinpoint several strong themes. Finally, the authors of the USA and China demonstrated the most significant collaboration. This study is a pioneering approach to applying bibliometric analysis to explore WDB research; it addresses a gap in the comprehensive review of earlier research and contributes to enriching the body of knowledge in this area. The results of this research are helpful for practitioners, scholars and future researchers in this subject, even if it has its roots in scientometrics.

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the association between genetics knowledge and perceptions toward nutrigenomics and to examine whether this relationship was mediated by attitudes toward nutrigenomics. An online cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire comprised of four sections: sociodemographic information, genetics knowledge, attitudes toward nutrigenomics and perceptions toward nutrigenomics. A total of 423 health science students participated in this study. Students enrolled in dietetics and biomedical science programs possessed significantly higher (p < 0.05) genetic knowledge compared to Chinese medicine students. Additionally, students in their second and third years of study exhibited significantly greater (p < 0.05) genetic knowledge than first-year students. Genetics knowledge was found to be positively associated (p < 0.05) with attitudes and perceptions toward nutrigenomics. Attitudes toward nutrigenomics partially mediated the relationship between genetics knowledge and perceptions toward nutrigenomics. This study underscores the need for a well-rounded and progressively structured genetics curriculum across all health science programs. Enhancing genetics knowledge could potentially serve as a strategy to improve attitudes and perceptions toward nutrigenomics. Nutrigenomics is an evolving field that forms a junction between diet, genomics and health. Health science students are the future health-care professionals, and their current attitudes and perceptions toward nutrigenomics are crucial for predicting its applications in the future. Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine how users’ intention to adopt online banking is influenced by perceived trust (PT), awareness (AWE) and social influence (SI) and to assess whether customer relationship management (CRM) moderates the impact of these factors on adoption intentions. Data were collected from 565 respondents in Pakistan using a stratified sampling technique. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS-4 to examine the proposed relationships. This study’s findings reveal that PT, AWE and SI do not directly influence users’ intention to adopt online banking. Trust impacts intention through perceived ease of use, while AWE and SI affect intention via both perceived usefulness and ease of use. CRM negatively moderates SI but positively moderates the effects of PT and AWE on users’ intention. This study explores the novel role of CRM as a moderator, offering fresh insights into how CRM enhances the impact of PT, AWE and SI on online banking adoption.

Abstract: This study aims to explore how different Hofstede cultural dimensions moderate the impact of corporate social performance (CSR) on firm performance, both before and during the COVID-19 crisis. This study aims to examine how Hofstede’s cultural dimensions influence the CSR-firm performance relationship, using data from 71,893 observations across 4,229 firms in common law countries from 2006–2022. The study initially found that CSR investments negatively impacted firm performance both before and during the COVID-19 crisis. However, further analysis revealed that cultural dimensions acted as moderators, influencing this relationship. This suggests that cultural factors significantly affect how CSR initiatives impact a company’s performance, particularly during crises. This study examines the relationship between CSR and firm financial performance through Hofstede’s cultural dimensions in common law countries, both before and during the COVID-19 crisis. It highlights the critical role of cultural factors in shaping the effectiveness of CSR initiatives across different economic conditions. The findings provide valuable implications for businesses and policymakers, suggesting that CSR strategies should be adapted to cultural contexts, especially in times of crisis.

Abstract: This study aims to explore how search engine optimization (SEO), website interaction and the moderating influence of customer relationship management can impact customer purchasing behaviour. Taking an analytical approach, the study technique was chosen to examine how search SEO and website engagement with the presence of social customer relationship management (SCRM) enhance customer buying behaviour. Statistical software was used to analyse the data collected through a questionnaire and descriptively analyse the participant’s demographics. Variables were examined via partial least squares (PLS) algorithm and bootstrapping using PLS statistical software. The key findings underscore the significance of optimizing search engines and engaging website visitors, which can impact purchasing decisions. In addition, evidence shows that SCRM plays a moderating role, in SEO, website engagement and customer purchasing behaviour. Optimizing search engines and engaging website visitors are marketing elements as they can enhance a company’s website visibility and rankings, attract more online visitors who position the company as an industry leader and ultimately boost its return on investment. As the internet and online platforms continue to grow, businesses are increasingly looking to optimize their online presence to reach their target audiences and improve their visibility in search engine rankings. This study provides valuable insights for businesses seeking to optimize their online strategies and reach their target audiences more effectively. Furthermore, it provides data for marketers, freelancers, SEO and companies about the customer’s behaviour within the Omani market to improve websites user experience and optimize the loading speed and ease of navigation.

      Authors: Shruti Gulati, Suneel Kumar
Abstract: This study aims to explore the nexus between tourist’s characteristics and the changing intensity of social media’s impact on tourist decision-making among Indian tourists. A group-based comparison is done in this exploratory study; the basis of groups is the tourist’s characteristics which signifies their different types such as social media type, user type, traveller type and destination type. India, which is a huge market for tourists and social media users, is explored for this study. This study adopts an exploratory design where an attempt is made to analyse if the intensity of social media impact on their decision-making changes with different types of tourists. For this purpose, primary data analysis using Partial Least Squares Regression based Multi Group Analysis (PLS-MGA) is performed on 488 Indian Tourists which was collected using a structured online questionnaire. The groups have been divided according to tourist characteristics signifying different types like social media type, user type, traveller type and destination type. Social media usage frequency and travel frequency have no moderating effect on social media’s impact on tourist decision-making. But social media type partially moderates decision-making with changing impact on the need recognition, information search and post purchase behaviour stages. Destination type also partially moderates with an impact on post purchase behaviour stage of tourist decision-making. Thus, it can be said that different types of tourists are impacted differently by social media across various stages of decision-making. This is a novel study that for the first time explores the changes in the impact of social media on tourist decision-making through changes in their own personal characteristics. Also, it provides real-time insights for tourism marketing for Indian market which has huge potential due to Indians being avid travellers and users of social media.

Authors: Shailja Badra, Sarika Jain, Sarita Vichore
Abstract: This study aims to explore the themes of “Fintech” and “Financial Inclusion” since their inception using bibliometric analysis and pave the way for future research agenda. The research is based on 351 publications from the Scopus database, covering timespan from 2007 to September 2023. The bibliometric analysis involves performance metrics (e.g. publication year, notable articles, leading journals and influential authors) and scientific mapping (e.g. word map analysis, three-field plot, bibliographic coupling, co-occurrence network analysis and thematic mapping). Tools used include Biblioshiny for performance analysis and VOSviewer for visualization. The bibliometric analysis reveals the publication trends, most influential authors, articles, journals, countries and important keywords. Subsequently, it presents the network connections among them in the “Fintech” and “Financial inclusion” fields. It identified emerging research diversifications in the literature on fintech and financial inclusion, while performance and citation analysis reveal significant growth in publications since 2019. Science mapping identifies four major clusters of research themes: measuring financial inclusion, leveraging data and analytics, technological change through infrastructure and access and usage of financial services. The study emphasizes the importance of Fintech in enhancing financial inclusion, particularly in developing regions. The limitation of this study is the extraction of research articles from a single database, Scopus. The study emphasizes the importance of Fintech in enhancing financial inclusion, particularly in developing regions. Future research could explore the role of Fintech in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals and the G20 High-Level Principles for Digital Financial Inclusion. Additionally, there is a need to examine the behavioral changes induced by Fintech in traditional financial institutions and end-users across different economies. This is one of the comprehensive studies to explore “Fintech” and “Financial Inclusion” from a bibliometric lens. The study highlights and discusses the recent themes in fintech and financial inclusion from broader social and managerial perspective.

Authors: Amruta Deshpande, Rajesh Raut, Natashaa Kaul, Amit Mittal
Abstract: Conflict resolution is crucial to nurturing workplace harmony and creating a positive environment. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between perceived fairness, choice of technology and conflict resolution in the case of full-time employees from various sectors. The scope is limited to examining the influence of perceived fairness (PF) and the impact of technology on interpersonal conflict resolution (ICR), with age and designation being control variables. A quantitative research design was used, and data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 450 respondents, with 420 participants’ responses included in the analysis. Structural equation modeling using the SmartPLS software was then applied. The findings revealed that perceived fairness has a significant positive impact on interpersonal conflict resolution, as did the use of technology. Age significantly influenced the relationship, while designation did not show an important relationship. The results suggest that organizations should prioritize perceived fairness in their policies and practices to create a conflict-resolving environment. Furthermore, they can leverage technology to enhance conflict resolution processes as the workplaces accept hybrid as a way of work. These findings can also guide practitioners in fostering positive workplace climates by effectively managing conflicts. This study contributes to the existing literature by examining the relationship between perceived fairness, technology and conflict resolution. It expands understanding of the factors influencing conflict resolution and highlights the importance of fairness and technology. The findings have practical implications for organizations seeking to enhance conflict management strategies.

Abstract: This study aims to systematically review extant global literature on knowledge transfer and retention in the context of postgraduate supervision in the higher education institutions (HEIs) sector. To rationally explore knowledge transfer and retention in higher education, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis technique was used as a methodology. The research findings of the study point to limited verified research in the global literature linking knowledge transfer, retention and postgraduate supervision in HEIs. Knowledge management is underdeveloped within the context of postgraduate supervision scholarship, albeit with potential serious knowledge loss risks within the HEIs sector. Moreover, knowledge transfer, retention and postgraduate supervision in HEIs are blurred. Therefore, future interdisciplinary studies are recommended to advance the scholarship of knowledge transfer and retention and postgraduate supervision in HEIs. Future research directions should focus on the critical role and capabilities of the supervisor, the student and other atmospherics. This study proposes that 21st-century higher education systems depend heavily on the design of organisational knowledge-driven structures, transfer, retention strategies and policies within the context of postgraduate supervision. This study presents global insights relating to knowledge transfer and strategies in the context of postgraduate supervision scholarship. Moreover, there is limited knowledge transfer and retention research aligned to ageing postgraduate supervisors and voluntary turnover in HEIs globally. Future interdisciplinary studies are recommended to advance the scholarship of knowledge transfer and retention and postgraduate supervision in HEIs.

Abstract: Geoportals are specific websites whose quality is most often assessed based on design techniques, potential uses, and usability. However, their position within the online ecosystem and their ability to reach users have not been studied as extensively. This presents a research gap worth exploring. This paper aims to assess the quality of selected geoportals in terms of their position within the online ecosystem. The author tested geoportals for the territory of Poland with proprietary domains and subdomains with algorithmic tools. They measured such global quality metrics as Open PageRank, Moz Domain Authority, Page Authority, Trust Flow and Citation Flow. The results were validated and juxtaposed with results for geoportals of selected European Union member states. The study revealed that publishers of (geo)information portals use unfriendly URL addresses, which are of little to no value to crawlers. The highest global metric values were identified for a geoportal with dynamic content and many users. The position of a (geo)information portal in the online ecosystem is a synergistic outcome of the qualities of all thematic geoportals. It is recommended that thematic geoportals provided as part of a main geoportal have their own subdomains. Subdomains can potentially become satellites of the main portal, improving its position in the online ecosystem.

  • Does eWoM matter in s-commerce' A comparatives study between Kuwait
           and United Arab Emirates

Authors: Hasan A. Abbas, Kamel Rouibah, Nabeel Al-Qirim
Abstract: This study aims to explore the antecedent factors that directly and indirectly influence electronic word of mouth (eWoM) for social commerce (s-commerce) in two developing countries (e.g. Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates [UAE]) by extending social cognitive theory. This study uses a previous robust model (Rouibah et al., 2021) as theoretical background to investigate and compares the antecedents (trust in Instagram, perceived risks) on eWoM for s-commerce through the mediation of three mediators (perceived enjoyment, perceived value and customer satisfaction) among two Arab countries. Data was collected from Kuwait (n = 1,132) and the UAE (n = 190). Different statistical analyses and structured equation modeling-based analysis of moment structure are used to test the robustness of the research model. This study found customer satisfaction to be most important factor that mediates the effect independent factors on eWoM for s-commerce in both countries. Surprisingly, perceived enjoyment has no effect, and trust in Instagram and perceived risks are the most important factors that are considered imperative for customer satisfaction and positive feedback. One limitation of this study is that the author does not focus on the difference between the effects of textual and graphical information on customers’ decisions and trust in buying merchandise. Another limitation is that this study focuses on Kuwait and the UAE. Other Gulf Cooperation Council countries are also growing exponentially, and mobile and internet penetration rates are booming; they could be a trigger for more studies on whether differences occur among all of them. The first implication is that it is the first in its field to extend the effects of eWoM. To the best of the author’s knowledge, compared to the online research this study is unique because the authors examine six factors for eWoM in s-commerce using the Instagram platform as opposed to other platforms. The third implication of this study is that the previous ones have applied eWoM to different subjects of e-commerce such as tourism and marketing but have concentrated less on s-commerce, where in-depth research is needed much more to explore factors and theories that explain human behavior. Furthermore, most of these studies have focused on the intention to use (Dincer and Dincer, 2023; X. Hu, Chen, Davison, and Liu, 2022; Zhou et al., 2023). However, the attention in this research is on the actual use.

Authors: Shinichi Yamaguchi, Hidetaka Oshima, Tomoaki Watanabe, Yukiko Osaka, Tsukasa Tanihara, Eri Inoue, Shinnosuke Tanabe
Abstract: This study aims to examine the relationship between various types of literacy on one hand and identification of misinformation and dissemination of such information on the other, in search for better countermeasures against misinformation. Based on data from a large-scale survey, models are constructed and analyzed to assess the relationships of literacy with both the identification of inaccuracies and dissemination behavior. Regarding the identification of misinformation, individuals with high critical thinking attitudes (subjective literacy) are less likely to recognize misinformation, while other objective literacies do not have a significant relationship. Regarding dissemination behavior, individuals with high information literacy, media literacy and critical thinking scores tend not to disseminate misinformation, whereas those with high critical thinking attitudes are more likely to disseminate such information. First, it quantitatively elucidates the relationships various literacies have with the accuracy judgment and dissemination behavior of misinformation. This highlights the effectiveness of objective indicators of literacies and the need for caution regarding subjective literacy – i.e. self-confidence in their own literacy. Second, it provides a cross-disciplinary analysis of the relationships, covering not only oft-studied politics and health care but also various other fields, thereby identifying comprehensive literacy strategies against misinformation. Third, it addresses differences in dissemination methods and offers insights into more practical countermeasures.
